Introduction of the ‘ONE-MINUTE BLAST’

We have created this bulletin to keep you informed about changes in Michael Miller Insurance that affect you, our client, as well as products, services and safety management tools that may interest you.

Water Damage – reduce your risk
You can help prevent future leaks and water intrusion by regularly inspecting the following elements in and around your property to make sure they remain in good condition. These elements include the plumbing, appliances, windows, basements, flashing, landscaping, etc. To prolong roof life, have a professional roof inspection annually.

Act quickly if water intrusion occurs. Shut off water immediately, remove standing water and consult a licensed building professional to determine the extent of the repairs. Fast action on your part will help minimize the time and expenses for repairs, resulting in a faster recovery.

Tree Damage – trim your risk
Falling trees and limbs cause hundreds of millions of dollars of damage each year, as well as personal injuries and deaths. Windstorms and ice storms are leading causes of such damage and injuries. In wildfire areas, buildings have also been destroyed by fire leaping from nearby trees and shrubs.

Property owners represent the first line of defense. Regularly examine trees and check for damage or other trouble signs and take corrective action if necessary, either on your own or with the help of an expert.

 OSHA Injury and Illness Posting
February 1 is the start of the three-month period during which employers are required to post their summary of work-related injuries and illnesses from 2010. Employers (with 10 or more employees) must report the number of injuries each year, even if no work-related injuries or illnesses occurred. In such cases, post the summary with zeroes across the total lines. For workplaces that experienced injuries and illnesses, the log must include their nature, severity and the number of days the employee missed work due to the injury or illness.
